Exactly 50 years ago in March 1959 a Rowington resident Mr. R.H.Orcutt who lived opposite St.Laurence Church presented a cup to Rowington Cricket Club which is now contested annually between the villages of Lapworth and Rowington.

Mr. Orcutt was a Director of a Shirley based firm The Gear Grinding Company Ltd and before moving to Rowington he lived in Broomfield House, Church Lane Lapworth. He was heavily involved in the life of Lapworth helping to raise money for the Second World War and becoming a Parish Councillor. It is believed that his close association with both villages is why they now contest the cup each year.

The game is played annually at the ground of the cup holder – currently Lapworth and is played as a 40 over game. The game is very keenly contested many of the players on both sides have known each other for years and this of course adds to the rivalry on the build up to the game and of course on match day.
