REPORT FROM ELAINE PRIESTLEY – CLERK TO LPC

As the weather changed from glorious sunshine to rain the planned site visit to the green at the Oaks was cancelled prior to the Parish Council meeting.  Parish Councillors were to visit the Oaks with a view to discussing options to enhance the Green.  The meeting was rescheduled for late April.

Cllr Mrs Jay gave an update following on from the successful public meeting held on March 26th. Approx. 40 people attended, a number of whom volunteered to help and others proposed themselves as members of the steering committee. Methods of communications were discussed and action agreed to be undertaken in the next few weeks to improve and extend things.  Steering committee nominations are to be invited by way of nomination boxes throughout the village with a closing date of May 31st. Residents and business community members are invited to cover such positions as chair, treasurer, secretary, volunteer co-ordinator, event manager, marketing and communications manager.  Please also refer to further articles within this month's parish magazine. A dedicated email address has also been set up: parishplan2012@zoho.com.

Unfortunately the picnic tables had not been delivered in time for the Easter holidays but the Parish Council is optimistic they will be in place shortly.

Several reports of dangerous trees were made, including some on the Old Warwick Road and some on Bushwood Lane – these have been reported to the County Council. Also reported was that Solihull MBC have tarmacked part of Chessetts Wood Road putting the Warwickshire part to shame.

A donation had been pledged by the Dorridge Fun Run Committee to the Lapworth Village Hall Committee as it is recognised that a large part of the “Dorridge Fun Run’ is run in Lapworth.
